Your privacy is fundamental to how we built MyRemote.
🟢 TL;DR: MyRemote operates entirely on your local network. We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. No account is required to use the App.
MyRemote ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information when you use the MyRemote application (the "App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
We believe in data minimalism. Here is a clear breakdown of what data exists and where it stays:
| Data Type | Collected? | Where It Lives |
|---|---|---|
| Device names & IP addresses | ✓ On-device only | Stored locally on your phone; never sent to our servers |
| Remote control commands | ✓ Local network | Sent directly from your phone to your streaming device |
| Personal identifiers (name, email) | ✗ Not collected | — |
| Location data | ✗ Not collected | — |
| Usage analytics | ✗ Not collected | — |
| Crash reports | ✓ System (Apple) | May be shared with us via App Store Connect if you have opted in to sharing diagnostics with Apple |
| In-app purchase receipts | ✓ Apple StoreKit | Processed by Apple; we validate receipts on-device only |
Because we collect virtually no personal data, there is little to explain here. The limited technical data we have access to is used solely to:
We do not use any data for advertising, tracking, profiling, or sale to third parties.
MyRemote requires access to your local Wi-Fi network to discover and communicate with compatible streaming devices. This permission is used exclusively to send control commands (e.g., button presses, keyboard input, volume changes) to devices on your network.
The App does not:
Apple App Store & StoreKit: In-app purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. Apple's Privacy Policy governs the information they collect during this process. We recommend reviewing Apple's privacy practices at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Device Manufacturers: When the App communicates with a Roku or Amazon Fire TV device on your network, that communication is subject to the privacy policies of those respective platforms. We do not control those channels beyond what is necessary to send remote-control commands.
We do not integrate any advertising SDKs, third-party analytics libraries, or social media trackers.
Since we do not collect personal data, there is no user data for us to retain or delete on our servers. Any preferences or device information stored by the App is saved locally on your device and is removed when you delete the App.
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect personal information from anyone, we meet this requirement by default. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@trymyremote.app.
Because we do not collect or store personal data, most typical privacy rights (access, portability, deletion) are already exercised by simply deleting the App. However, you may have additional rights under applicable law (such as the CCPA for California residents or GDPR for EU residents). We are committed to honoring these rights. Contact us if you have specific requests.
MyRemote's local-first architecture is itself the primary security measure. Because no personal data is transmitted to external servers, the attack surface for data breaches is minimal. Local device communication takes place over your home or office network, the security of which is under your control.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Effective date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
